Who can join? ICly everyone must be at least 10 years old. (OOC: late teen) Even child prodigies shouldn't be exposed to some of the nightmares of Devildom. However, ranging the gambit from apocalyptic powerful demons and angels to people who assume they have no magical power innately; all systems are go.
Wait, no power caps?! Relatively. If this gets abused in ways I can't imagine, we'll nerf it accordingly. Likewise, I'm trusting everyone to use their own best judgement and restrict their characters themselves based on what is fun for actually playing with others. No Godmodding, limit infomodding (based on characters' permissions pages, and DDD's do canonically leak/expose like real-reality tv) and try to go with a rule of funny as much as possible. When in doubt, there's the basic mana system most RPGS rely on, and sheer energy, and if truly truly worried, the limitation of devildom's magic air can restrict any characters as needed. If you have a constant need to blow up and destroy school portions [Looking at you Lucifer's brothers, especially Satan!] you'll start accumulating debts to pay it off.
About money... There's a basic monthly stipend to compensate for the hassle of being summoned against your will, and otherwise there's a LOT of jobs that pay decently. You can also invent others [Mammon and Asmodeus model. Leviathan wants to be a video game streamer / podcaster. Mammon also loses all his grimm to casinos. So there's that. And CONSTRUCTION is always in highest demand and pays the best. You don't have to be 14+ ICly, but you must be relatively physically capable.]
Do I have to pay rent? Nope, it's free, because you were kind of kidnapped, sorry about that. It wasn't intentional.
Then the money is for...? Fun. Buying luxuries. Keeping the economy going. A bribe to prevent revolutions >>;
How does teaching pay? Pretty well. - No restrictions on teachers (sans being actual adult) but they can't have romantic relationships with students. Because Diavolo and Lucifer think that would cause way more headaches between realms than fix. You can take it up with them, but knowing Lucifer? He won't listen.
What kind of classes are there? Everything. Devildom History, Color Theory, Summoning Magic, Curses & Hexes 101 through to 10th level certification, Potions, Traps, Mechanical devices, Sports (Beelz is a canon pro at Fangbol), and anything else you can think of. You can apply as a teacher to add new ones and depending on Lucifer and Diavolo get accepted for that.
What about other canon Lucifer's/brothers? Rule of 3. There can be up to 3 Lucifer's, if that's your jam (or even if not, sorry!) So Obey Me, Lucifer by Neil Gaiman, and Hazbin Hotel. I like chaos. They must be from different canons, however. And OM Lucifer isn't quite enough of a dick (to his lament!!!) to pass the paperwork onto other versions of himself. In general, everyone else should follow that too.
So can there be 3 MC's? No, because the manga, anime, and games all count as one. (Same for Doctor Who at this time!) There could be other MC's from completely different otome though, because that is very very funny. But only 3. This goes for all RPG's Main playable character self-insert. 1 Obey Me MC, 1 Baldur's Gate Charname, 1 Final Fantasy player of Light. And that's it. I like Chaos, but even I recognize limits!
Do I have to be a pink sparkly sheep? No. Characters can be anything they want: shinigami, human, angel, or demon.
CAN I be a pink (or any other color) sparkly sheep/pony/demon/angel/non-canon original flavor? Yes. When MC first arrives in the manga/comic she shows up as a sheep despite otherwise being very obviously human. And in the human realm, all the demons become humans. Likewise, later MC is denoted as a sheep in all things. So too, does this go for everyone else. As in Hazbin Hotel, sinners undergo transformation, so too does that happen in this Hell-lite. It's not permanent, you can regain your preferred shape with practicing/learning more magic. [Player's whim/choosing on when/how. Try to not grant it if your character is terrible at studying.] Likewise, even the most resistant ever demons and angels sometimes get cursed and have to deal with the minor nuisances of magic going rampant. Satan frequently becomes cat-cursed. As you do. And Lucifer's wound up more times as a vampire/werewolf/butler than he can count.
Explain Color Magic: :T The hardest one. Okay, all magic is mental, emotional, psychological, and then just plain MAGIC. Colors are very "powerful" in psychology even in the human realm, but this is GREATLY amplified in devildom which use to have innate fae magic, and now is very overrun with demons. This is why Celestial colors are white; they refract INTO all colors, and devil colors often favor black (absorb heat, radiation, and nullify things slightly!) As a general constant, even the mildest paint, or glow sticks can have a huge psych/morale/MAGIC boost. Especially to get colors ON someone. These correlate with the sins. Red = Gluttony, Pink = Lust, Yellow = Greed, Orange = Envy, Green = Anger, Blue = Pride, Purple = Sloth. In general you wouldn't want to spread a lot of green on someone else who might go berserk, but if that's your best strength, you might want to have more around than not, (almost like Splatoon.)
Demons ESPECIALLY are controlled by their whims/desires. If they want something strongly enough they cannot help giving in, resisting is damn near impossible (even for the fallen angels!) So covering someone with red can get them hungry enough to prioritize food, but be careful that they don't decide to eat YOU.
Souls? Yeah, for all humans, you need to protect your soul from getting eaten. It's shiny and demons covet it desperately. Most of the time they can't get it except to get you to fall into sin, but they'll keep trying. Purifying your soul will make it even more attractive and valuable, but it also makes YOU stronger.
- Angels do not have this problem, but generally desperately fear falling the same way as Lucifer and co. So while temptations of Devildom shouldn't matter as much to them, they are a lot more standoffish because of this. Also some shops are straight up mean to angels. You can tattle to Lucifer or Diavolo, but it still stings, he knows.
Pets and/or Pokemon and/or summoning pokemon-style monsters: Depending on your roommates (Lucifer doesn't allow Satan cats because he always ends up with hundreds and it's too many!!!) pets are fine. Every time you purposely summon anything (yes, even Lotan, Levi!) the chaos gets worse. That might be fine for YOU, but are you prepared to deal with everyone else getting mad about it? Or worse: the PAPERWORK? Seriously though, you can do it, just try to remember the consequence ^ and be ready to deal with that. If it's abused, Lucifer will start enacting punishments (same as any other magic power.) One can be summoned alongside your character, but if you turn your character into an animal (or pokemon) I'm sure it'll be weird for everyone involved."Where's my water buffalo, why don't I have a water buffalo?" Actually no, this is fine, I am prepared to deal with that.
Clothes/Weapons/Gear/etc. Depending who/how you arrive ie: if you're a sheep, you might be naked, you'll be given the school uniform, but that's what the stipend is for. Go buy clothes to suit your fancy. - But if you're a Helluva Boss imp, the fluidity to canon is not even needing a big change, so you can keep everything you already had. There's no limits AGAIN, buuuuuuuut -- 1) Time travel doesn't work *right* - part of that catastrophe, not QUITE paradoxical, but also bridging time/space keeps making it worse oops. 2) cars are a go, but you could spend 500 years and not find the end of Devildom. Getting to the human world without magic, the doors/portals OR summoning is going to be a nightmare. 3) Weapons. You can have all but nukes (because the radiation fallout + the magic going haywire = ?! Do we really need to make Hell more hellish? Stop....) but again; be prepared to deal with the consequences. There's no death, so if you're going to engage in wars to the end, it's just escalations of tortures, and at that point you might as well just get smarter about it all. Highly recommend adjusting your weapons to enabling magic, especially as with color magic, and some of the curses/hexes/books they're ones anyone can do.
Activity Check: Currently just a vague check-in. If you are literally posting/threading any of the 3 comms (memes and TDMs for the OOC comm) and I see you, you don't need to do anything else. If you're stealthy, or only tag one character I might ask if you need help making friends. The shame and embarrassment. Please tag others to spare us BOTH this moment of dread. If you go a couple months missing, I'll pm you, and you get 1 week to say if you want to stay or need a hiatus. Should be the chillest I can make it, because RP IS FOR FUUUUUUN!
But there's a super popular character taken! Try a different one. Wait patiently. Time in Devildom is measured in centuries not days. There's no sun, after all. (There is still 24 hour cycles, but you have to be really attuned to darkness to notice the difference that well.)
But I can't get a hold of my castmate! If it's been a long time (well over 2 weeks) and you've made good faith efforts, PM me, and I'll PM them. Try to work it out yourself, but when all else fails, that's what I'm here for.
Anything else I forgot or is super specific ask below!
